About Lana

Lana Sussman is a Mental Health Social Worker in private practice and an Arts Psychotherapist specialising in drama and movement therapy with over 20 years experience supporting children, families, couples, and individuals through trauma, loss, and significant life stress. She is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AASW) and holds a Master’s degree in Drama and Movement Therapy from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London.

Lana’s work is deeply trauma-informed, relational, and body-based, recognising that following traumatic events, experiences are often held in the body before they can be put into words. Her approach integrates arts psychotherapy, drama and movement therapy, emergency pedagogy, and psychodynamic frameworks, offering safe, contained, and developmentally appropriate support without requiring people to recount or relive distressing experiences.

She is trained in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Gottman Level One approaches, which she integrates flexibly into her work with individuals, couples, and families. Lana has extensive experience working with children and their parents, as well as supporting adults navigating identity shifts, grief, anxiety, relationship strain, body image concerns, and the impacts of challenging life events.

Lana has worked in both Sydney and London and brings a strong understanding of how community context, intergenerational experiences, and identity shape emotional wellbeing. She is the co-founder of The Parents Village in Sydney and is known for creating spaces that feel safe, respectful, and non-judgemental.

Warm, compassionate, and down-to-earth, Lana brings flexibility, a steady presence, and a gentle sense of playfulness to her work. She is also an experienced facilitator of group programs and workshops, and has moderated panel discussions and MC’d community events with care and clarity.

Lana currently works via Telehealth and offers face-to-face sessions in the eastern suburbs where requested. Medicare rebates available.

You are welcome to contact Lana to discuss how she can support you.
